SEA alum-led BuildingConnected acquired by Autodesk

Autodesk recently acquired BuildingConnected, the leading construction bid management platform, for $275 million net of cash acquired.

SEA Alumnus Dustin DeVan

Prior to starting BuildingConnected, CEO and SEA Alumnus Dustin DeVan worked as a general contractor for 6 years. In 2012, he quit his job to start BuildingConnected. From his work experience, he knew that the bidding process requires engagement with many different businesses on a constant basis. It seemed that if you could connect everyone on one network it could simplify the process for everyone. Fast forward to now, BuildingConnected is used by more than 700,000 construction professionals. With more than $100 billion in new construction projects bid out across our network every month, the BuildingConnected platform is connecting every business in the $10 trillion construction industry.

Announced in December 2018, BuildingConnected joins Autodesk to accelerate the goal of improving the relationships of millions of construction professionals worldwide by building easy-to-use tools. For the first time ever, contractors will be able to have a seamless flow from pre-construction to finished project – combining the best of BuildingConnected and Autodesk’s solutions.

BuildingConnected CEO and co-founder Dustin DeVan said, “Together with Autodesk, we can expand the platform’s capabilities and scale globally.”
