President’s Message

“Everyday when you wake up you are enough”

Hello SEA Community,

The pandemic taught all of us a hard lesson. We all had to figure out how to operate differently to survive.  As a fitness professional, I owned an “in-person” business, it was devastating and liberating. And yes, I said liberating. I now had the opportunity to change my business model and realize 2nd chances are real.

It gave me the opportunity to create a “second act,” however, this time around I am smarter because I am not only the SEA board president, I’m an alumna!  I’m fueled by my own SEA experience to help navigate my next adventure.  I’m still not sure what that looks like, however being part of the SEA keeps me inspired and supported.

Being so embroiled in the Sac Start-up community, some might cringe at the fact I don’t have a crystal-clear vision of what’s next, that’s ok. What I do know is, that SEA taught me about discovery, testing ideas, and following the evidence, so that is what I am pursuing, and encouraging all budding entrepreneurs, founders, and anyone with an idea to make the world a better place to do the same.  The other crucial thing you need is support and that is what SEA does.

Our SEA community looks out for each other. As a risk taker, and entrepreneur, I have witnessed our community “show up” when it counts, offer kind words, constructive feedback, and a real sense of camaraderie. I believe the connections we cultivate and maintain help us move forward. The Sacramento start-up community is a rich source of amazing tools, resources, and programs, however it’s the people that are the glue that holds it together.

Let’s keep working hard, stick together and devote time to self-care so we can all be our best selves.

I’d like to leave you with one thought- if you take nothing from this message, take this—

Every day when you wake up, you are enough.
Every day is a new chance to improve.
