Sacramento Entrepreneurship Graduates 26th Class

Sacramento, California (May 7, 2012) – The Sacramento Entrepreneurship Academy (SEA), a Sacramento-based non-profit organization offering a fellowship program in entrepreneurship, graduated its 26th class on May 1. Since 1986, more than 500 aspiring entrepreneurs have graduated from the program, including regional business leaders Scott Syphax (Nehemiah Corporation), Ethan Conrad (Ethan Conrad Properties), Buzz Stryker (POS Portal), and Brett McGovern (Bay Equity Home Loans).

“SEA provided the practical, hands-on experience I needed to complement what I have learned in school,” explained Ezra Gebreyesus, a 2012 SEA Fellow and graduating California State University, Sacramento student. “I count this experience as the foundation of my future success. Having continued access to the SEA Board of Directors and alumni — particularly their expertise and contacts – will prove invaluable.”

Doug Milner, a graduate from 1991, and managing partner of Strategic Acquisition Advisors, delivered the alumni message. “Having heard from so many who went before me, I knew the trepidation I felt was a natural consequence of becoming an owner,” said Milner. “My involvement in the SEA provided a tremendous boost to the early stages of my career. Without question, the lifestyle that I am now able to provide to my wife and sons can be directly linked to doors that were opened to me early on by the SEA.”

Tatjana Johnson received the highest honor bestowed on SEA Fellows with the Jim Corbett Founders Award. The award recognizes the contribution a Fellow makes to the program and the Board’s belief that this individual embodies the best qualities of business creators and leaders. “While I have been successful in my early career, the SEA also taught me how to tune my performance to align with unspoken management expectations,” said Johnson, a global equity manager at Intel. “I know better how senior management thinks and assesses project execution. SEA will help me become an intrapreneurial success.”

The 2012 SEA Fellowship Program was supported by: Bay Equity; Ethan Conrad Properties; Five Star Bank; Moss Adams, LLP; POS Portal; Nehemiah Corporation; Hubbert Systems Consulting; and Weintraub, Genshlea, Chediak, Tobin & Tobin.
